Star Wars Episode 7: Possible Plots From The Expanded Star Wars Universe

Since Disney bought Lucasfilms and announced that a new "Star Wars" film would be releasing in 2015, fans and film insiders are speculating potential plots for "Episode VII."

According to MarketSaw, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, C3PO and R2D2 will feature prominently in the new trilogy and some of the original actors have already been approached. Disney has said that the new films will be a completely new story in the Star Wars legend.

Here are three story lines from the expanded universe that Disney should at least consider:

3. The Thrawn Trilogy/ Heir to the Empire Trilogy: The novels are set five years after the events of 'Return of the Jedi" and features the New Republics battle against the remaining Imperial forces. The blue-skinned Grand Admiral Thrawn has seized control of these remaining forces and leads them to many victories against the the New Republic.

Thrawn is of the Alien species the Chiss, a species from unknown regions in the galaxy. Thrawn offers the filmmaker a villain who can be both physically imposing and a mental match for the series heroes. Thrawn can be what Darth Maul never was a villain that looks cool and has a deep and engrossing backstory.

2. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: is a role-playing video game that takes place approximately 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire and revolves around a mysterious machine called the Star Forge. Two ex-Jedi Knights, Darth Malak, and Darth Revan discovered the machine. Malak betrays his former master and take over the Sith Armada. The player's character and his or her companions journey across the galaxy to the planets Dantooine, Manaan, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, and Korriban for more information about the Star Forge.

The game captured the Star Wars Universe as well as the original trilogy and brought gamers into a world where the Sith and Jedi were both powerful entities in the galaxy. The story is griping and the plot twist is one of the best of all-times. Darth Malak is the perfect antagonist for a new trilogy and the game can easily be spread across three feature-length films.

1. The New Jedi Order: The events of the series take place 21-years after the end of the original trilogy and feature an invasion from an alien race that worships pain as a god. The Yuuzhan Vong emerge from the outer galaxy and utilize living organism as a form of bio-technology. The alien race practices self-mutilation and body altering practices. The Vong cannot be seen by the Jedi in the force and are unaffected by most Jedi force powers.

The Yuuzhan Vong presents a new challenge to the Jedi heroes of the franchise and can match the Jedi in battle prowess. The Jedi have always been presented as nearly invincible warriors, the Vong can humanize the Jedi. The series also features the heroes from the first trilogy as older with children of their own. This will allow the actors of episodes 4-6 to reprise their roles in much more believable fashion. The series of novels also connected the new Jedi order with Ankin Skywalker and the old order.

Well none of these storylines are likely to make it to the big screen when episode 7 releases in 2015, but we can still dream. Do you have a favorite story from the Star Wars expanded universe that you want to see turned into a movie? comment in the section below...
