'Just Cause 3' Latest News, Release Date & Update: 'Bavarium Sea Heist' DLC Now Available Across All Platforms

The latest and last DLC for Avalanche Studio's "Just Cause 3" has finally arrived. The DLC, titled "Bavarium Sea Heist" was made available last week for those who have a season pass, and has now made available for those unfortunate ones who weren't able to get their hands on one.

Game Reactor reports that there's a nautical theme to "Bavarium Sea Heist," given its title, so expect more on and offshore fun with ships of all shapes and sizes. According to V247, this will be the last major DLC release for "Just Cause 3," but speculation about a multiplayer mode being added to the game has arisen thanks to news that the studio hired a team that previously worked on a previously halted "Just Cause 3" multiplayer mod.

VG247 reported last July that lead designer Cameron Foote made the announcement online, stating that the "Just Cause 3" multiplayer mod has been indefinitely canceled. He did, however, promise to bring "many of the things you know and love from JC2-MP into future Avalanche experiences."

Last year, Red Bull sat down with game director Roland Lesterlin to talk about "Just Cause 3," and he revealed that even if he came on board right after "Just Cause 2" was released. He admitted that he went into the project first and foremost as a fan, which is why it was important that they took into consideration what the fans wanted to see in the third installment of the game.

Lesterlin said that "Just Cause 3" included several features that "comes also from what the fans want and what the modding community has done," but it was done without deviating from the look and feel of the "Just Cause" series. The third game also found the protagonist Rico returning to his homeland only to find that it had been ravaged by a cunning dictator. The game is set on the fictional Mediterranean island of Medici.

"Just Cause 3" is originally produced by Omar Shakir. It is published by Square Enix, and was released on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One back in November last year. It received mostly positive reviews from critics as the third iteration of the series that first launched in 2006, with a sequel in 2010.
