'WWE 2K17' News & Updates: Gameplay Changes From 'SummerSlam' Demo

"WWE 2K17" is coming up soon, and fans got a little taste of what to expect over the weekend. 2K Sports made a copy of the game playable over "SummerSlam" weekend in New York, and there are some pretty significant changes made to the game.

According to GamesRadar, main improvements were made to how "WWE 2K17" plays. The game feels more like a pro wrestling simulator now more than ever, with AI opponents being taught to perform moves and follow logic that can be seen in a real wrestling match. There are also new moves, such as taunts from the second turnbuckle, and some gameplay elements, such as submissions, are now more forgiving than they were in "WWE 2K16."

Finishers are also slightly reworked in "WWE 2K17," at least with respect to how certain finishers that require specific positioning in the ring can be done outside of it. For example, Shinsuke Nakamura (also a new addition to the game) has two variations of his Kinshasa finisher: both inside the ring (from the corner) and a ringisde variation.

The presentation is also going to seem really lifelike, and even better than in the actual WWE. 2K Sports is really going all "NBA 2K" on "WWE 2K17;" for example, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler will discuss a one-on-one matchup complete with specific commentary tailored to the wrestlers about to fight, something you can usually see in an "NBA 2K" loading screen. Players can also attack their opponent after the match is over, and backstage brawls will be so realistic that you can even run into other wrestlers doing their thing in the hallways.

2K Sports looks like they're definitely pulling out all the stops, and considering what we know of it right now, we can't wait to play it when it comes out. "WWE 2K17" drops for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 11 later this year.
