'Red Dead Redemption 2' Latest News, Release Date & Update: Now Backward Compatible with Xbox One; Sequel Inspired by 'The Walking Dead?'

The PlayStation Meeting is just a couple of weeks away from now and fans of "Red Dead Redemption 2" are already on the lookout to see if Rockstar will take advantage of the event to debut any major announcements regarding their upcoming releases. We recently reported that the company may be part of the exciting event, hopefully to unveil the sequel to the widely popular 2010 game.

While waiting, however, fans of the theoretical "Red Dead Redemption 2" would be glad to know that the 2010 game released by Rockstar seems to run smoothly on Xbox One. Gamespot recently released a list og games that are now Xbox One backwards compatible, now including Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption." Now there's another reason to play the game all over again!

Meanwhile, the latest in the rumor mill surrounding the evasive and highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2" is that it will include zombies. Fans might remember how the studio released a DLC titled "Undead Nightmare," which featured a zombie horror-themed single-player campaign, two multiplayer modes, and super creepy environmental additions to the game.

Will Rockstar be inspired by the massive success of AMC's "The Walking Dead" and include some zombies in "Red Dead Redemption 2?" Fans need to keep their fingers crossed for any news in that area, but it's safe to say they're already fans of the show, given "Undead Nightmare."

Other news surrounding the theoretical "Red Dead Redemption 2" game is that the sequel will be featuring more than one protagonist. We recently reported that the upcoming game will follow the format of "Grand Theft Auto V," wherein there are multiple protagonists in the game. Fans are hopeful that the sequel would come to fruition soon, as even Rockstar San Diego's Ted Carson believed that there were a lot of ideas to pack into just one game.

The PlayStation Meeting happens on September 7 in New York, and we're hoping for more new "Red Dead Redemption 2" news during the event.
