Devil May Cry Release Date: Ninja Theory Announces DmC DLC And Release New Trailer (Watch New Trailer Here)

Dante's twin brother is back in the upcoming reboot of the Devil May Cry series as Capcom announced Vergil's Downfall as the first DLC for the DmC: Devil May Cry.

According to the announcement from Capcom here is the DLC's synopsis:

"Experience a brand new chapter of the DmC Devil May Cry adventure with Vergil's Downfall, the untold story of Dante's twin brother Vergil which will be downloadable* from XBLA and PSN. Vergil's Downfall offers fans the opportunity to play as one of the most wanted Devil May Cry characters, Vergil, in an all new storyline with fresh gameplay including new weapons, combos, enemies, and locations."

Vergil's Downfall will be available for 720 MS points on Xbox Live and for $8.99 on PlayStation Network. North American gamers who pre-order DmC Devil May Cry at GameStop or EB Games will receive the redeemable code to gain access to Vergil's Downfall for free once it is released.

Capcom and Ninja Theory have been denying Vergil as playable character almost since the game was first announced. This plus many of the changes to the characters from the original series has sparked a negative reaction from fans. Capcom US producer Alex Jones addressed this topic in an interview with Eurogamer.

"So very early we thought we'd end up getting some negativity or at least some push back on it," Jones told Eurogamer. "But we always thought because of how closely we were working with guys from Japan, particularly on the combat stuff, that once people saw the game and saw it played and eventually get their hands on the controller, that they would see it was a proper DmC game and Ninja Theory were going to be excellent stewards of the IP and everything you would want a DmC game to be it would be."

DmC Devil May Cry arrives on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 15, 2013 across North America and Europe with a PC version shortly after. The DmC: Devil May Cry PC port is not being developed by Ninja Theory and has been out sourced to Polish quality assurance and localization studio QLOC, which has worked on past Capcom ports.
