Dwayne Bowe caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Matt Cassel on the Kansas Chief's first possession, but everything went downhill for the rest of the game as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Chiefs 34-13 on ESPN's "Sunday Night Football."
Kansas City has lost their sixth straight overall; their only win came in week three against the New Orleans Saints in overtime. Matt Cassel threw for 248 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked five times and intercepted twice.
The Steelers moved up and down the field with ease, Ben Roethlisberger was 25-34 for 297 yards with three touchdown passes and one interception. Mike Wallace added 128 yards receiving and was the recipient of two of Roethlisberger's touchdown passes.
Isaac Redman ran the ball 18 times for 104 yard and a touchdown. His performance gave the Steelers had their fourth straight 100-yard rushing game. Jonathan Dwyer added another 45 yards on the ground.
Late in the second quarter, with the Chiefs down 21-7, Cassel fumbled the ball when Lawrence Timmons hit him. The loose ball was recovered by Casey Hampton and gave the Steelers excellent field possession.
The Steelers added a field goal to end the first half of the game giving Pittsburgh a 24-7 lead.
The Chiefs scored two field goals in the third quarter and cut their deficit to eleven points entering the final quarter of the game. But Roethlisberger led the Steelers on a 16-play touchdown scoring drive. A second Cassel interception led to another three points for Pittsburgh.
