Hitman: Absolution - The ICA File on Agent 47 (Watch it Here!)

Up until quite recently, IO Interactive's been rather hush hush concerning the plot of Absolution. I was naive enough to think that 47's problems would be limited to a sole villain. But if you watch the new trailer of the ICA's profile on the original assassin, it would seem 47's about to have a lot of problems heading his way. Check it out below!

I was naive enough to assume that Blake Dexter would be 47's only problem. But I suppose when an operative of the world's leading assassination agency goes rogue, they take it a bit personally.

The trailer serves as a bit of a backstory for anyone who will make Absolution their first Hitman experience. For those people, here's a bit of 47's backstory to save you the trouble of strategic pauses and translating Romanian and French.

The subject of cloning procedure using genetic enhancement, Agent 47 was made using DNA from five men who would go on to become fairly high ranking criminals. Spending his childhood in an asylum that was a cover for human experimentation, 47 would eventually escape the asylum at the age of 30, and found work with the International Contract Agency (ICA). He would eventually be hired by his creator to eliminate the other men he was genetically based on.

He would ultimately return to the asylum to kill his creator, and destroy the remaining clones. First debuting in 2001's Hitman: Codename 47, players can play some of these older missions in Hitman: Contracts, a culmination of 47's flashbacks.

SPOILERS: Fast forward to Absolution, and 47 finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy. Pursued by the Chicago police as well as various agents of the ICA while he searches for the truth, Agent 47 was asked by his handler Diana to look for a young girl named Victoria for reasons yet unknown. It's believed that Blake Dexter knows her whereabouts.

Absolution also offers a new online mode called "Contracts," which allows gamers to create and share their own custom hit challenges within the game. Choose a level, targets, weapons and then set the rules for completing your contract as you play to create. Absolution will ship with many pre-set contracts, each designed by the very best assassins at IO Interactive.

Hitman: Absolution is scheduled to release in the U.S. and Europe on November 20, 2012, for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
