Is Bungie’s ‘Destiny’ Free on Xbox One? Plus, See Plans on Game’s Matchmaking in Raids

"Destiny" appears on the Microsoft Store as free, but read the fine print before downloading it. If you expect the whole game to be free; then it's not. It's actually the trial version of "Destiny" that's free on the Microsoft Store. According to Bungie, players who wish to play the entire game must purchase "Destiny: The Collection" first.

IGN has since contacted Activision to clear some details on the "Destiny" Trial Mode wherein, they learned that "Destiny: The Collection" will launch alongside its first expansion; "Destiny: Rise of Iron." Rise of Iron will join all past major "Destiny" DLC for the said collection. Some of the newest feature included in the "Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC is the private PvP match that players don't need to purchase in order to have access.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is scheduled for release on the Xbox One and PS4 console on the 20th of September 2016. Meanwhile, during an interview at the Metro's Game Central, lead designer Steve Cotton answered queries whether Bungie is removing the matchmaking in Raids. Cotton replied "No, no. We've been thinking about that a lot."

Whether Cotton implied, they're considering retaining the matchmaking in Raids or not, it remains to be seen in the future. The matchmaking in Raids is currently unavailable and according to Forbes, it's a problem most casual players have to deal with when playing "Destiny."

The multiplayer aspect of the game has allowed players to create raid teams; removing such feature will likely put every effort in vain. Bungie will attend the next event called PAX West and they promised to bring "Destiny" with them. If you wish to try the new PvP feature, catch them in their 12 stations featuring "Destiny: Rise of Iron." Get the latest "Destiny" update here on GameNGuide.com.
