Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has only been out for two days, setting all sorts of records, but there's already rumors circulating for the next CoD title. An anonymous informer told Siliconera that voiceover work is already underway in LA for the next game, set to take place in the Modern Warfare storyline, and in a true departure from the series, features a "battle hardened veteran" with "a nihilistic point of view" (sarcasm intended.)
With a flashback scene featuring John "Soap" MacTavish in Somalia planned, the character could be someone seen before in the Modern Warfare storyline. Price is an option, but this is considerably unlikely, given that Price's voice actor, Bill Murray (no, not THAT Bill Murray), recently denied rumors he was working on a fourth Modern Warfare game.
Given the range of people MacTavish has worked with, it could just as easily be a brand new character.
All that's known about the character, codenamed "Ben Burke," are some lines, listed below, that have been recited by a voice actor.
"Reminds you of Phuket, doesn't it? Only this time the dust gives you cancer... OK, park yourself and get ready. When this thing kicks off, put a hole in anything that moves."
"This is Sentinel Zero One, successful crypto change on C2 net break, requesting immediate update of blue force picture and status of artillery, over. I have you broken and unreadable, I say again, requesting updates to friendly positions and status of arty support. Do you read, over?"
"We've got KVA on the move! They're going to strongpoint the main gate, ETA two mikes! We're providing support for our heavy rollers! Ready up and let's move!"
"Goliath, this is Sentinel Zero One! We have enemy armor at the gate, hundred meters north of our position! Requesting close-air grid mark three-one-six!"
According to Siliconera, these nuggets of info come courtesy of the same source that leaked information about Sleeping Dogs to the site, so this new information is likely reliable.
