‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ Release Date, News & Update: Ultimate Slasher Game Coming Soon, Is A Single Player Mode Still Possible?

Fans of the horror genre have something exciting to look forward to in the coming months ahead. Gun Media and Illfonic's survival horror title "Friday the 13th: The Game" will releasing a couple of months from now.

Of course, "Friday the 13th: The Game" is based on the iconic movie franchise of the same name. While Gun Media and Illfonic has been relatively quiet, here are some of the known details about the upcoming title.

'Friday the 13th: The Game' Gameplay - Multiplayer Mode Confirmed

What is certain for now is that the upcoming game will be in multiplayer mode. Up to eight players can play simultaneously in one game. True to the original slasher films where it is based on, one of the eight players get to play the killer Jason Voorhees while the rest play as counselors of camp Crystal Lake trying to get away from him.

Single Player Mode Still Possible In 'Friday the 13th: The Game'

Previously, there were plans to introduce a single player mode in the "Friday the 13th: The Game." However, it seems that those plans have been shelved temporarily when its Kickstarter funding fell $1 million short of the budget needed to do a single player mode, reports Polygon.

Speaking to Polygon, "Friday the 13th: The Game" co-creator and Gun Media founder Wes Keltner is not ruling out of the game's single player mode. According to Keltner, "We're taking pre-orders right now. Every single time we get is going right back into the game to put that kind of stuff in there."

New 'Friday the 13th: The Game' Trailer

Gun Media recently release a new "Friday the 13th: The Game" trailer revealing details about the upcoming survival horror title. The trailer shows a video footage of Jason walking menacingly toward the one capturing the video, which was probably taken using a smartphone.

Incidentally, the new "Friday the 13th: The Game" trailer's title also revealed something about the upcoming game. Titled "Kane is Back," it hints that Kane Hodder, who played Jason in numerous Friday the 13th films will make a crossover to the game as well.

Fortunately, games with a preference for the horror survival genre won't have to wait for long. "Friday the 13th: The Game" release date is already slated this coming October, though an exact date is yet to be announced.
