'Witcher 3' News & Updates: New Patch Out Today

2015's "The Witcher 3" is getting an update on all platforms today. For those getting the Game of the Year Edition of the title, however, the changes coming in the patch are already applied to that version, so no need to worry. (For everyone else, however, this is a pretty important update.)

This patch for "The Witcher 3" is apparently not ridiculously game-changing (it doesn't add anything new to the game), but it is a much-needed update. There are a lot of important cosmetic changes, and a lot of necessary gameplay changes.

According to "The Witcher 3" patch notes, the cosmetic changes include the PlayStation 4 version of the game getting new interface fixes. Visible prompts for the PlayStation controller are now in the game, making gameplay much easier. For what it's worth, NPC character Vimme Vivaldi, a dwarf banker in the game, also has a new look, although the implications of this change are not known, if any. Your horse's tail will also no longer disappear.

On the quest side of "The Witcher 3," the update also fixes the "Without A Trace" quest, making the enemies you have to defeat now totally beatable where they were impossible to kill before this. Alchemy has also been fixed, among a number of fixes made to how quests were played, as apparently there were many bugs on this side of the game.

You can get "The Witcher 3"'s Game of the Year Edition on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and/or PC today for only $50, perhaps as a method to boost sales of the game after developer Projekt Red reported a huge decrease in the first half of 2016. The Game of the Year Edition includes all expansion DLCs along with the base game. For a full list of changes the patch is making to your game today, you can go check out GameSpot.
