All the signs are hinting on a Christmas release especially since the filming of its premiere season has already wrapped up.  The adaptation of Lemony Snicket's masterpiece will topbilled by Neil Patrick Harris.

Neil Patrick Harris' role in "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" will most probably be likened to Johnny Depp's portrayal of Jack Sparrow.  Why? Because of their silly makeup and costume as well as portraying the primary role as an antagonist but eventually ending up as a partial protagonist .

Although Count Olaf's will be making life difficult for the children in "A Series Of Unfortunate Events," Neil Patrick Harris' portrayal in the Netflix adaptation might make the role less gloomy.  Of course, an intricate prosthetics session is needed to make the versatile actor look perfect for Count Olaf's role.
