With the announcement of "The Vampire Diaries" cancellation after season 8, fans feared for the fate of its spinoff series too. "The Originals" season 4 spoilers suggest that there might be some crossover from the original series to avoid cancellation.

'The Originals' Season 4 Canceled?

"The Originals" season 4 was rumored to get canceled after its original series "The Vampire Diaries" gets canceled after season 8, GameNGuide previously reported. While The CW executive Mark Pedowitz expressed optimism towards "The Originals" season 4, there are still rumors that the spinoff series could get canceled because of low ratings.

As such, fans are wondering if a crossover from "The Vampire Diaries" could save "The Originals" season 8.  Earlier on, Julie Plec already hinted that such could happen, Zap2it reported. During the San Diego Comic-Con, she mentioned that some of the characters from "The Vampire Diaries" will crossover to "The Originals" season 8.

'The Vampire Diaries' Crossover

During the TCA Press Tour, Mark Pedowitz said that "The Originals" season 8 could stand on its own. He hopes the series could see a fifth year ahead. If this is the case, then there's a high probability that some of the characters from "The Vampire Diaries" may appear temporarily or permanently in "The Originals " season 8.

The website suggests that Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) may crossover to "The Originals" season 8. Since he's done it already, transferring to the spinoff series after "The Vampire Diaries" may be possible. It's up to Wesley on where to go next. "The Originals" season 8 may also see Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis). The cast of the spinoff series has put their highest best that this character will make the jump after "The Vampire Diaries" ends.

Enzo St. John may also make the jump towards "The Originals" season 8. The website noted that he's already got what it takes to belong to the spinoff series.  Lastly, Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) will also make the jump towards the spinoff series.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will air on October 21 on The CW. Meanwhile, "The Originals" season 4 air date is yet to be announced.
