‘Resident Evil 2’ Latest Rumors, Release Date & Update: How Will Remake Be Rendered?

Capcom will be unveiling another remake of its 1998 survival horror game, “Resident Evil 2”. Best known as of the iconic games that starred Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong, plans for the said version came no less from senior marketing director, Stuart Turner.

It should be noted that the remake of “Resident Evil 2” is not just a remastered version similar to what other game titles have been doing (i.e. “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”), but a completely new one. With that said, up in the air is what kind of gameplay the classic horror game will bring.

Gameplay perspective debate?

When “Resident Evil 2” first came out, Capcom introduced a fixed camera perspective style of play. This style was eventually changed in “Resident Evil 4” where an over-the-shoulder kind was used.

Why is this important? When the over-the-shoulder perspective was used, it marked a big turnaround for Capcom. “Resident Evil 4” was the turning point so now critics are wondering if Capcom would be taking that into consideration with the planned remake.

The Hype just got real

All of this was made official when project head Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed a video last month. According to him, the remake was a result of constant badgering from gamers and now they have finally decided to give into the rants.

Right now, the remake of “Resident Evil 2” is in the early stages. Thus, a gamer will need to practice extra patience on the remake as the game developers work buckle down and work on it.

For the meantime, most may have to satisfy themselves with the “Resident Evil” HD remaster that came out last January. That release broke sales records and is seen as another reason why Capcom decided to do the same for the sequel.
