'Stranger Things' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Millie Bobby Brown Not in for the Second Season?

One of this year's biggest television (okay, streaming) debuts came in the form of Netflix's "Stranger Things," which brought the 80's nostalgia through its mystery-horror format. The series seemed to bring back Winona Ryder into the limelight and kickstart the careers of Millie Bobby Brown as the mysterious Eleven, and Gaten Materazzo as Dustin.

But what really is to come now that Netflix has ordered "Stranger Things" season 2? Last month, we reported on how the Duffer brothers likened the show to "Harry Potter" and how they wanted the progression to be a yearly thing. This brings us to the conclusion that the second season will be set a year from the events of the season 1 finale. Vox confirms this, reporting that the producers also wanted to keep up with their very young cast. Ross Duffer explained that viewers will have to fill in the gaps between their storytelling.

Meanwhile, it seems that "Stranger Things" season 2 will be more of a series rather than a continuation of the first season of the show. Producer Shawn Levy told SlashFilm that while they are continuing with the main characters of the show, they're also looking to "unearthing new problems" for the story. With this in mind, will fan favorite Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) be returning to the show? The Duffer brothers seem to remain tight lipped about it.

Mirror reports that the 12-year old actress doesn't even know if she will be back for "Stranger Things" season 2. She even admitted that she keeps constant communication with the Duffer brothers to get an idea of where her character stands in the show, but it seems that production remains secretive on where they will be taking her in the story. Fans will remember that David Harbour's Hopper makes sure to leave out food for Eleven by the forest, implying that she is definitely still alive.

"Stranger Things" season 2 should arrive on Netflix in 2017.
