‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Did Niantic Just Steal Apple Watch 2's Moment?

“Pokemon Go” was supposed to take a step back at least for a day but it turns out that Apple and Niantic were in collaboration behind everyone’s back. The spotlight belongs to the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2 but somehow “Pokemon Go” found a way to crash the party.

While it is almost a given that the augmented reality app would be downloaded by eventual iPhone 7 owners to their mobile phones. It was the integration of the Apple Watch 2 that somehow got many interested.

Apple Watch 2 features maximized

Hearing that “Pokemon Go” would be available for the Apple Watch 2 threw most off guard. It seemed to hint that players could catch pocket monsters on the wearable when it fact all it would do is ‘alert’ players.

As most know, the Apple Watch 2 needs to be linked to an iPhone before it can be of much use. “Pokemon Go” is no different. The only thing it did was leave the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus in a person’s pockets, only pulled out when the time to act (i.e. collect Pokemon, Pokeballs or hatch eggs) comes around.

Hence, similar to other smart wearables out in the market today, the Apple Watch 2 just made it easier to play the game without holding a mobile device all the time. Technically, it also addresses the issues of safety – that of which is walking around normally where attention is called only when needed for the sake of “Pokemon Go”.

Hence, it may sound like a big thing hearing about two big names in the tech industry –Apple and “Pokemon Go”. But the reality of it all is that it only made things easier and safer for the hooked augmented reality gamers. That and of course a touch of fashion thanks to Apple’s latest wearable solution alongside its newest flagship phone.
