'Justice League' Latest News & Update: Joe Manganiello Confirmed to Play Deathstroke, But is He Included in the 2017 Film?

Is Deathstroke making his way to "Justice League?" That's the main question now that the face behind the character has been unveiled. Joe Manganiello has been confirmed to fill the role he was long rumored to play, but the casting news comes from the solo "Batman" flick from star Ben Affleck.

Late last month, the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" star took to Twitter to share footage of Deathstroke. Causing fans to speculate on who might be underneath the costume.

According to the Wall Street Journal, DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting news, revealing that the 39-year old Manganiello will play Deathstroke in the upcoming yet-untitled Batman film. What fans want to know now is that if he will be included in the highly anticipated "Justice League," which will swing into theaters late next year.

The yet-untitled solo Batman film has no release date set by DC, but it seems that production is already underway. Affleck is collaborating with Johns to write the script and Affleck will direct the film. There's no word yet on whether or not "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League" director Zack Snyder will play any directorial role in the upcoming film, as his schedule is indeed packed.

He's currently working on "Justice League" and will also direct the upcoming standalone films for "The Flash" and "Aquaman," both slated for a 2018 release. Come 2019, "Justice League 2" will also make its way to theaters.

Manganiello isn't a stranger to comic book hero films, as he played Flash Thompson in "Spider-Man" series from Sam Raimi, starring Tobey Maguire. If that doesn't ring a bell, he's the dude who punched Peter Parker in the face while they were in high school.

The actor has come a long way from roles as such, as he went on to star in the unforgettable "Magic Mike" in 2012 alongside Channing Tatum. He even reprised his role as Richie in "Magic Mike XXL." He's also best known for his role as Owen Morello in "One Tree Hill" and Alcide Herveaux in "True Blood."

Fans of Manganiello will have to wait for the coming of the yet-untitled solo Batman flick, but for now, watch out for "Justice League" arriving on November 16, 2017.
