Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke recently revealed that the company will come up with new "Pokemon GO" characters only after it is through the global rollout of the popular mobile game. Hanke also revealed that the new characters would be revealed at events where players would gather.

Niantic is waiting for the launch madness to subside so that it can solely focus on the "Pokemon GO" new characters launch. Hanke promised that the events would be part of Niantic's future and introducing new Pokemon and hosting the events for the characters would go side by side in a synchronized way.

As per YIBADA, Hanke does not want a repeat of the "Pokemon GO" US launch where the game consumed all of Niantic's Google Cloud Platform capacity that the company had reserved for the global launch. Moreover, carrying out events thousands of people is a tough ask. Hence, Niantic believes, holding off the new Pokemon character launch is best done later.

During the US launch, Hanke had to send an emergency email to Google's CEO Sundar Pichai for reinforcements. "Pokemon GO" was provided with additional server capacity by a Google Cloud team. Now, the load has eased out and Niantic can release the game globally.

"Pokemon GO's" paying population has gone down a bit in the US. It has dropped 79 percent since the peak of in-game buyers on July 15. However, despite the fall in numbers, the game garnered 28 percent of the money generated in mobile market, which is almost six times more than the second-most profitable game Candy Crush Saga.

Meanwhile, latest reports suggest that the next "Pokemon GO" update will add kilometer requirements for Ditto and Legendary Pokemon. Niantic's update, 0.37.0, is supposed to hit users this month. When it does, it will introduce some top features along with a couple of added kilometers, especially for Ditto and Legendary Pokemon.
