'Metal Gear Survive' Release Date, News & Updates: First Gameplay Trailer Schedule Confirmed For Sept. 17; How To Watch Live At TGS 2016

"Metal Gear Survive" is set to have its initial gameplay demo at Tokyo Game Show 2016 on September 17. "Metal Gear Survive" was previously announced at Gamescom in August 2016 and more details about the game will be unveiled at the Konami booth during the huge event. A "Metal Gear Survive" stage event is set to happen, which will feature the demo and will also be livestreamed on Niconico and YouTube.

GameSpot reported that Konami promised to showcase brand new information about "Metal Gear Survive" at its first ever gameplay demo. The four-player co-op stealth title is a spinoff of "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain," and features the same setting as the latest game in the franchise, just after the events of "Ground Zeroes." In "Metal Gear Survive," Militaires Sans Frontieres soldiers are drawn into wormholes together with chunks of the Mother Base, after it was attacked. The soldiers are taken to alternate timelines and are forced to battle for survival. Gamers will play the soldiers and work with comrades to take on zombie-like enemies.

IGN stated that according to Konami, "Metal Gear Survive" will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2017. It will cost about $30, which is the same as "Ground Zeroes" during launch. The game will feel different from the usual "Metal Gear Solid" game, and focuses on survival gameplay mechanics and co-op, compared to the traditional infiltration, led by main protagonist Snake. However, "Metal Gear Survive" is being developed by the same people who worked on "Metal Gear Solid 5."

"Metal Gear Survive" will be inspired by familiar elements and systems from "Phantom Pain." Since the game will be developed by the same people, players should expect a lot of similarities and probably a continuation of the story. As a spin-off, it will not be a full-price game and most likely offer an alternative outcome from the events of "MGS 5." The "Metal Gear Survive" stream will reportedly begin at 4:15 p.m. JST on Saturday, November 17, or 2:15 a.m. GMT on Friday, November 16. More updates and details on "Metal Gear Survive" are expected soon.
