‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Buddy System Posing Problems For Jailbroken, Rooted Devices

The much-awaited update for “Pokemon Go” is finally out, a patch that will introduce the much awaited “Buddy System”. A lot of players have already seen what the patch 1.7.0 (iOS) and 0.37.0 (Android) brings though some gamers have been experiencing problems.

In a previous post, it was mentioned that Niantic will be cracking the whip on players who play “Pokemon Go” on jailbroken and/or rooted devices. It was mentioned as well that support for the augmented reality game will likely be affected and it looks like such is happening.

It seems that some “Pokemon Go” players are experiencing problems and getting error codes upon application of the latest patches, meaning they are unable to continue playing “Pokemon Go”.

Temporary fix may not last long

That said, the best move, for now, is to avoid downloading the latest “Pokemon Go” patch though it will mean missing out on the new features. There are ways to work around the problem though it may only be a matter of time before Niantic could resort to extreme measures such as game bans.

Some “Pokemon Go” players may likely take their chances on the temporary fix though it is not advisable if they want to continue playing the game. Nevertheless here are some temporary measures.

Working on the “Pokemon Go” update

For “Pokemon Go” players on iOS using jailbroken devices, open the Cydia app and head on over to the manage tab. Locate the sources option, edit and then add cokepokes.github.io and then try to run the game.

“Pokemon Go” players playing the game on rooted Android devices can resort to unrooting and turn to apps like “Magisk”. If that doesn’t work, the worst case scenario is deleting the custom ROM in use.

Again, “Pokemon Go” players affected are reminded that these are temporary fixes which may or may not work. Also, be wary of the game bans. Niantic has done it before and can surely do it again.
