Nintendo Announces Pokemon X & Y (Details and Trailer Inside!)

So maybe all the details were't spot on, but we do indeed have a new Pokemon game for the 3DS. Check out Nintendo's announcement trailer for Pokemon X and Y below!

Pokemon X and Y represent a radical change for the franchise. The top down perspective is replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, we'll be seeing several new pokemon, 5 of which were teased at in the trailer. Likely the new Pokemon for players to begin with are: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokemon. X features some kind of stag, and Y a bird.

Nintendo began the announcment by looking back at Pokemon's history, with Red, Green, Gold, Silver, Pearl, and so on, which did make it seem like the stage was being set for the rumored Rainbow, but this was not to be.

It's disappointing that Nintendo is going the mobile route once again for its huge franchise and not the Wii U. But Pokemon's humble beginning started on the handheld market with the Game Boy, so it only seems fitting that the newest title go to the latest handheld iteration.

Not many other details are available for X and Y, only that both games will release this October, giving Nintendo a lot more time to hype the game's new features and monsters.

We'll keep you informed as new information is released.
