‘No Man’s Sky’ Latest News & Update: Hello Games Oversold Ambitious Space Exploration Game, Sony President Blames PR Strategy [POLL]

Hello Games continues to find ways to save the faltering promise of “No Man’s Sky” though the road ahead is a challenging one. Looking back at its demise, Sony president Shuhei Yoshida weighed in on the debacle, which he believes was a poor of PR strategy.

This update appends a previous post that covered the fate of “No Man’s Sky”. Despite the freefall of active players (from 157,000 to 10,000), Hello Games has not given up on the ambitious space exploration game. The big drop was largely attributed to the bugs and recurring gameplay, something that Hello Games hopes to address through “No Man’s Sky” patches. Ironically, it was mentioned there that the game spurred up too much hype that may have did them in.

Before the game officially came out, the PR and marketing efforts of Hello Games for “No Man’s Sky” was undoubtedly a stroke of genius. Unfortunately, the game proper lacked the necessary seeds to support the hype and hence seen as the potential reason behind their floundering fortunes.

Yoshida believes that a proper PR person should have been around to help out, something that Hello Games may have overlooked for “No Man’s Sky”, IGN reported. But he was quick to note that the company can still pick up from the unfortunate turn of events.

Hello Games’ intent to continue game development and address bugs and improve gameplay are good which can hopefully rekindle interest for “No Man’s Sky”. The fortunes of “No Man’s Sky” may have dropped but can be repaired. The road to redemption seems tedious though all is not lost for Hello Games. The company just needs to ride the tide and fend of negative vibes for “No Man’s Sky” to draw back players who have opted to pass on the ambitious space exploration game for one reason or another.
