Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo Release Date Announced For PlayStation Network And Xbox Live

Konami and Platinum Games' upcoming action video game and spin-off of the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is getting a demo released on Jan. 22 for download on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

According to an article on GameSpot, the free demo will take place during the game's opening chapter and will introduce players to the game's main protagonist, cyber-ninja Raiden.

The game is about Raiden battling against a self-proclaimed private military company involved in terrorist activities, called Desperado Enterprises. Raiden wears both his white armor as he is seen in Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots, but he later switches to a more power black alternative version of the armor.

The game takes place four years after the events of Guns of the Patriots in the year 2018. Raiden is working for the PMC Maverick Enterprises in order to raise money for his family. According to Konami the story will focus on Raiden as he battles Desperado Enterprises, a self-proclaimed PMC involved in terrorist activities. Here is the official synopsis from the game's site:

"Raiden is contracted for VIP protection, military training and other duties by PMSCs (Private Military and Security Companies) in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs."

The demo was originally available only to those gamers who purchased the Enders HD Collection.The demo was originally announced on Twitter by Konami for a January release, but a specific date was not given at the time.

"MGR demo is coming to PSN & XBL for all regions next month," Konami Tweeted. "Can't wait? Check out the demo now as part of ZOE HD."

Konami has also announced that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance's demo will release in European territories on Jan. 23. The game is set to official release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Feb. 19, but the game will not be releasing for Nintendo's Wii U.
