Is A Fallout TV Series In The Works By Bethesda?

Bethesda's Fallout, a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games, is coming to television, according to a trademark by the game company.

According to a recent article by IGN, Bethesda filed an application on Jan. 8 seeking a trademark for "an on-going television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."

The Fallout Series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries with its style and artwork influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America. The first game was set in the Southern California region in the year 2161 and introduced many of the series' staples including the Vaults and its inhabitants.

IGN notes that the trademark application possibly adds some context to the recent tweets of Fallout 3 voice actor Erik Todd Dellums, who plays Three Dog in the video game.

Dellums tweeted, "to all my Fallout 3 and Three Dog fans: There may be more of the Dog coming! Fingers crossed!"

In a subsequent tweet, Dellums wrote, "How was that for a tease! I was given permission to release that tease, so fingers crossed."

The industry wide assumption at the time was that Dellums was referring to a new video game in the Fallout franchise. But with this new development, it now means his tweet could be referring to the potential television series.

IGN attempted to contact Bethesda for a comment, but was unable to reach the game developer before the story was posted.

The most recent entry in the franchise is the Obsidian Entertainment developed Fallout: New Vegas, which featured a post-apocalyptic environment set in and around Las Vegas, Nevada. The area is now called "The Mojave Wasteland," which iincludes parts of real-world Nevada, Arizona, and California. The game was not a direct sequel to Bethesda developed Fallout 3.
