‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date, News & Update: VR-Ready Game Arriving Fall 2017? ‘Red Dead 3’ Titled ‘Legends of the West?’

Rockstar Games continues to be tight-lipped when it comes to details about the most anticipated game, "Red Dead Redemption 2." Fans have been looking forward to the sequel since "Red Dead Redemption" game was released in 2010. The game developer hasn't announced anything yet but speculations about the sequel continue to make the rounds.

According to several reports, the sequel might be released in 2018. Rockstar avoided talking about "Red Dead Redemption 2" at the E3 2016 in June and the Gamescom 2016 in August when everyone expected an announcement to be made at the said events. In addition, there was a cryptic tweet from tipster Tidux suggesting that Rockstar would make an announcement, assumed to be for a "Red Dead" game, at the PlayStation Meeting earlier this month. The event has come and gone but still there weren't any updates.

Now, speculations are rife that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" will unlikely become available in 2017. With that said, fans are looking forward to the next likely release period, which is in 2018. By that time, it is believed that the popularity of the Virtual Reality gaming technology would rise further. "Red Dead Redemption's" sequel might even be VR-ready, according to rumors.

As for the name and the subtitle, reports have it that this will be changed. The "Red Dead" franchise started with "Red Dead Revolver," followed by "Red Dead Redemption," which would make the next game technically have the working title "Red Dead 3." So, is "Red Dead Redemption 2" still happening?

A report from Frag Hero also stated that the upcoming "Red Dead" installment will officially be titled "Legends of the West." The publication cited an anonymous source, who also claimed that the game will make it in fall 2017 and that it will introduce more than one playable character. Although Frag Hero's information can make any "Red Dead Redemption" fan excited, it should be noted that the game developer has not addressed any of the rumors yet, and so readers should take them with a pinch of salt.
