Tomb Raider 2013 Release Date: Crystal Dynamics Says There Will Be No Demo Or Season Pass For Lara Croft's New Game

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider will not be getting a demo or a season pass for downloadable content, according to Crystal Dynamic.

According to a report by video game website IGN, Karl Stewart, global brand director, tweeted that the developer has decided not to release a demo for the game because the company didn't want to spoil the game's narrative. He also said that he believed it would be better for players to experience the game in one gaming session.

"We've weaved such an personal story we don't believe spoiling it by having you wait a week or so to play on, delivers on our promise," Stewart tweeted.

IGN says that after he was asked by a number of followers whether or not the game would offer a season or online pass for DLC, he tweeted that the game would not be receiving a season pass for expansions and added content.

He explained, "Reading some of your comments/questions about @tombraider multiplayer. Just so were all on the same page, there's no Season or Online Pass."

IGN notes that the move is surprising as Tomb Raider is the first game in the franchise to truly feature a multiplayer component and that it is almost an industry standard to offer a season pass for add-ons and expansions.

One possibility is that Crystal Dynamics will not charge for extra content, which would be welcomed by gamers. What do you think about Tomb Raider bypassing some of the industry's modern standards? What do you think about the addition of multiplayer mode? Let us know in the comment section.
