Joining the seemingly ever growing list of politicans who continue to point the finger at video games and those who create, and play them, as responsible for events like the recent shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut, is Ralph Nader.
It would seem as though the former Presidential candidate's dislike of consumer goods has moved well beyond his distate for the Chevrolet Corvair.
At the Busboys and Poets' Peace Ball in Washington last night, Nader decried the industry as a whole, and referred to videogames as "electronic child molesters."
Asked for his thoughts on President Obama's inaugaration, Nader went further into expressing his opinions, calling the inauguration "political bullshit." While the President has called for further research into the effects of video games on their audience, Nader seems to think this is not enough, saying, "We are in the peak of [violence in entertainment]. Television program violence? Unbelievable. Video game violence? Unprecedented," Nader said. "I'm not saying he wants to censor this, I think he should sensitize people that they should protect their children family by family from these kinds of electronic child molesters."
Personally, I'm amazed. Never before did I ever believe that a former Green Party candidate could, or would ever be, in agreement with the NRA.
At least now we know of three universal truths. The sky is blue, water is wet, and whether it's rock n' roll, movies, or whatever, politicians just seem to hate what the kids love.
