On Emergence Day, the Locust Horde arose from their subterranean dwellings and gushed upon the human inhabitants of fictional planet of Sera. They swarmed their homes and spilled human blood on the streets of their cities.
The early days of the war are finally going to be explored in the upcoming Gears of War: Judgment by Epic Games and People Can Fly. The game will release on March 19 in the United States exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Here are three things about the new third-person shooter that we can't wait to experience:
3. Overrun Mode For Multiplayer: Overrun is new multiplayer mode that feature five-on-five battles COGs against Locust. According to a recent article from The Official Xbox Magazine Online, the new mode will challenge players to complete an objective while battling the other team. OXM played the new mode and said, "It all came together as a fast-paced thrill ride in our two matches, with all the bloody battles you'd expect. Using a turret to mow down oncoming Locust, timing your Ticker's detonation so you do maximum damage...how can you go wrong? We put down our controller eager to give Overrun another go." The new mode looks like it will bring some more strategy to Gears of War's multiplayer mode.
2. New Locust, the Rager: Gears of War Judgment will introduce a new Locust type called the Rager. The creature is sort of like the Incredible Hulk, the angrier it gets the scarier the Rager becomes. The new Rager transforms into a hulking, red rage beast when damaged and then attempts to overrun the COG defenses. According to recent Game Informer article, the Rager died out early on in the Locust War due to its aggressive battle style.We can't wait to battle this psychotic menace and make them extinct.
1. The Villainous Karn: The Gears of War series has been known for its pretty awesome villains and now the latest antagonist Karn joins previous villains General RAAM, Skorge and the Locust Queen from the original trilogy. Karn, an imposing locust "grub," and has only been seen briefly in one of Judgment's trailers riding a giant beast. Unfortunately, Epic Games and People Can Fly have kept his story close to the vest and not much is known about Karn. However, we do know that the baddie has something to do with the massive slaughter of humans on the infamous Emergence Day. We have all seen the destruction the Locust have done to the planet Sera and I can't wait to take out the Locust responsible.
Gears of War: Judgment releases on March 19 2013 exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Fans who pre-order Gears of War: Judgment at participating retailers will receive a multiplayer weapon at launch, the six shot Hammerburst.
