The Minnesota Vikings have not given up on running back Adrian Peterson and are still, in fact, hoping that he can return this December. The 31-year-old running back underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus which will keep him out of action for 3 to 4 months minimum.
As mentioned in a previous post, the injury to Adrian Peterson brings up a lot of questions about his future with the Minnesota Vikings. He is due $17.75 million in 2017 though recent developments will deprive him of getting that money.
December return possible?
There is a big chance that Adrian Peterson will still be able to work his way to a good deal after this season with the Minnesota Vikings. That is if he is able to return to December, something that lies heavily on how fast he is able to recover from surgery.
The Vikings will keep close tabs as well on how Adrian Peterson rebounds from the procedure, with the team weighing in on how his overall health. Apparently, this is not the first time that he has undergone such a procedure so his durability may play a part in contract negotiations, NFL.com reported.
Minnesota Vikings keeping Adrian Peterson?
In the same report, sources claim that Adrian Peterson will likely be kept and this will be until he retires. The Vikings have remained loyal to the veteran running back so it looks like everything will boil down to the crunched numbers.
Regardless of how much both sides are talking about, the same sources are confident that the two sides will eventually come to an agreement which will be win-win to both sides. There are no numbers to show for now but the flexibility between the two sides will likely make negotiations fluid.
Until Adrian Peterson signs on the dotted line, anything is possible. He is a future NFL Hall of Famer and several teams are expected to follow and pitch some offers his way in case he ends up unhappy with the Vikings’ offer.
