'Minecraft' Latest News & Update: Mojang Tweets Cross-Platform Play Between PS4, Xbox One & Mobile; Tease or Mistake?

Much mystery is surrounding "Minecraft" after developer Mojang Tweets that this game title will pioneer cross-platform format between mobile, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Microsoft seconded the announcement but due to unexplained reasons, the Tweet was deleted just hours after it was posted.

Most logical among speculations that Mojang mistakenly Tweets announcement for "Minecraft: Realms" and not the original mobile-based construct game. "Minecraft: Realms" is rent-system game where gamers can invite friends hailing from other platforms. Meaning, someone who rents server can be a moderator for other gamers and hosts a sort of multiplayer "Minecraft."

If Mojang did the mistake in posting at Twitter, then it is not the anticipated feature for the original "Minecraft." After all, nothing is new on sister "Minecraft: Realms" because it is a known fact that it can cross-play between Android, iOS, PC and consoles. However, the "other" announcement is still expected even if somebody from the developer's end thought ahead of the team and decided to pull the trigger, Pure PlayStation said.

Now not all was lost in confusion because the original "Minecraft" announcement was replaced with another puzzle. The picture accompaniment in Twitter also changed into just tablet PC. Comparably, there were PlayStation controllers and Xbox one in the original, iDigital Times reported.

Whatever Mojang is cooking right now, one factor is clear about the future of "Minecraft." Gamers expected heavy announcements during Minecon 2016 which was held recently but there was no hint of any. In contrast, game developers would traditionally provide layouts of what to expect within pre-determined timeframe to tease the gaming world.

If GameNGuide is to take a guess, it is probable that race to attain true cross-platform game is on. "Minecraft" may not be the first to toy the idea. However, they've got the upper hand because "Minecraft: Realms" is already in a sort of hybrid server rental system.
