New Story & Director For 'Pacific Rim 2'
Casts of the "Pacific Rim 2" will start filming in November in Australia and the film is officially dubbed as "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom." Guillermo Del Toro wrote and directed the first film that premiered in 2013. However, rumors are rife that "Daredevil" Season 1 director Steven S. DeKnight will be the showrunner and lead director for "Pacific Rim 2."
While "Pacific Rim 2" is reportedly now in its pre-production phase, official details about the film remain scarce up until now. According to ScreenRant, the story will progress to the future where the son of Idris Elba's character will be featured, which is portrayed by "Star Wars" actor John Boyega.
New Cast Members Joining On 'Pacific Rim 2'
Deadline reports that "True Detective" star Adria Arjona will be casted in "Pacific Rim 2" along with "Star Wars" actor John Boyega", "Grad Torino" actor Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian and Cailee Spaeny. Adria Arjona will also star in the upcoming NBC series called the "Emerald City", James Gunn's Horror production "The Belko Experiment" and in the movie "Life of the Party" with Melissa McCarthy.
In other news, Charlie Hunnam, who is he lead actor of the prequel movie, confirmed that he will not be back to appear "Pacific Rim 2." In a report by Mobile & Apps, the "Sons of Anarchy" actor admitted that he will not make a comeback due to the his tight schedule.
Charlie Hunnam is reported to star in the movie "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" that is set to premiere on March 24, 2017. Hunnam, however, wishes that "Pacific Rim 2" will go deeper into character storytelling, which he thinks the first movie lacked.
'Pacific Rim 2' Release Date
