‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: Gym Battle Glitches, What Could Be The Cause Of The App Crashing

With "Pokemon GO's" recent update to version 39.1 and 1.9 on iOS, there seems to be more and more instances of the "Pokemon GO" app crashing. Specially during consecutive gym battles, consecutive evolutions or any strenuous in game activity that doesn't seem to affect "Pokemon GO's" performance in the past versions of the app.

Other Redditors reported that "Pokemon GO" was crashing even with just the simple task of transferring and powering up Pokemon. Also reports of catching several Pokemon consecutively can now cause lag. Does "Pokemon GO's" recent updates turned the app into a memory hog?

What Are The Possible Causes For 'Pokemon GO' Crashing

One player mentioned what could be the probable cause of the lags and glitches, as "Pokemon GO" versions 39.1 and 1.9 are said to have "memory leaks." This could mean that "Pokemon GO" consumes a huge chunk of a phone's RAM that it causes the "Pokemon GO" app to crash.

As of now, the best way to avoid this glitch is to make sure that your smartphone doesn't have any apps running on the background while playing "Pokemon GO." A more drastic measure is to delete other memory hogging apps or to but a smartphone that has 2GB of RAM or more
