Borderlands 2: Add-on Content Pack - Game's DLC Releasing On Disc This Month

Turns out that classification listing last month wasn't lying. 2K has formally announced an add-on content pack that bundles some of Borderlands 2's DLC all together, and is planned to release later this month.

The disc includes the new character class, Gaige the Mechromancer, and the first two DLC episodes, Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, and Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage. Also included on the disc will be the Creature Slaughter Dome, which was originally only available by pre-ordering the game from GameStop.

Details on each bit of DLC below:

Gaige the Mechromancer - Salvador dual wields, Axton has his turret, Zer0 is stealthy, and Maya can phaselock, but Gaige? She has a big friggin' robot on her side that she made herself, with the lovely moniker, the Deathtrap, which Gearbox's president Randy Pitchford described as Claptrap's big angry cousin, calling it a, "gigantic evil robot that'll just beat the living shit out of the enemies." Like Tiny Tina, this makes her one dangerous teenager, even by Pandora's reckoning.

Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty - takes players Jolly Roger style to an entirely new area of Pandora, a former oceanic resort that's now a barren wasteland called Oasis. The DLC adds new Pandoran pirate characters, missions, trophies / achievements, currency, enemy types, and a new vehicle called a sand skiff, (seen below) inspired by the Star Wars vehicle. The Scarlett DLC sends players on a journey to Pirate Bay in search of hidden riches and blood money.

Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage - approximately the same length as Scarlett, this DLC similarly includes new content, such as trophies, weapons, new challenges for badass ranks, and a new currency called "Torgue Tokens" that can be used to purchase weapons from a new type of vending machines. Each machine offers new weapons, including one legendary weapon as a daily special. The DLC is centered around the discovery of another Vault on the world of Pandora, located in the colorfully named "Badass Crater of Badassitude." The Vault will only open "once the champion of Pandora feeds it the blood of the ultimate coward," so of course, Mr. Torgue has set up an arena in an attempt to find the champion, and open the vault. "New-ish" enemy types are to be included - Psychos, marauders, and company get a biker styled makeover. The DLC has a heavy biker vibe, with muscle cars and motorcycles seen throughout (Torgue, torque, get it?). Competing in the arena requires a sponsor, of which there will be a range of. Several famous Pandoran faces return in the new DLC, including Tannis, and Mad Moxxi with Tiny Tina as potential sponsors for the vault hunter. As Torgue himself describes it, "EXPLOSIONS, BOSSES, EXPLOSIONS, NEW WEAPONS, NPCS AND STUFF, A METICULOUSLY-CRAFTED NARRATIVE," and of course, "F*CKING EXPLOSIONS."

The pack releases in stores on Feb. 26, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, for $29.99. For Johnny-Come-Latelys, and non season-pass holders, the disc actually helps folks save a bit of cash, so if you never tried any of the Borderlands 2 DLC, it's not a bad investment.
