Apple Siri Smart Speaker with Video Recognition: Taking on Amazon Echo

Apple Siri smart speaker expects to launch and take on Amazon Echo Dot which is considered as the most popular digital assistant-powered device available in the market today. In addition, Google is even set to unveil their Echo speaker competitor on October 4 just as the rumors of Apple Siri spread. As Apple set off for their new iOS 10 on iPhone 7, the Siri-powered speaker will include a camera that can be used for video recognition.

The Cupertino-based tech giant did not yet confirm these rumors but their decision to invest for Siri is going to have a good sense. The Apple Siri speaker can act as a control panel for IoT-enabled devices through a Home app. Moreover, with the latest software update, Siri is even used in ride booking, messaging, photo search, payments and VoIP calling, accprding to Macworld.

The Siri speaker is going to be one of the numerous hubs available with lots of features. Apple's Siri would also be integrated with other iOS devices like iPhone and iPad. The Siri can be used to read emails or even send text messages through the speaker and by voice command too.

The camera in the speaker can add up more depth to the digital assistant experience in so many ways. Another one is the potential use of the video recognition will enable the users to make gestures other than voice commands.

Meanwhile, aside from having an Apple Siri, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially released a series of 48 recently granted patents for Apple Inc. In particular, another Apple invention was uncovered related to mapping the environments. Apple has a lot of 3D mapping systems inventions related to its camera. Also, innovation is important for Siri and Apple since its rival segment, Alexa is also implementing major transformation, reports The Verge.

The 3D mapping that Apple launched inclusively on their iPhone 7 Plus device in its camera requires a laser in order to perform a 3D scan in the environment. Today's approved patents enable laser mapping to function in a camera. Watch more details from Hey Thanks Apple: Siri May Now Actually Be Useful | WWDC 2016 video posted below.
