Microsoft Release Date, News & Update: Xbox Wireless Controller in The Works

The Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller is said to solve issues regarding the Samsung Gear VR which rolled out sans a controller. The Xbox Wireless Controller is expected to ship with the new Xbox One S console and will also include built-in Bluetooth connectivity for Android devices and PCs. The tech giant recently launched a software update for the wireless controller that may be activated via the Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC.

"Minecraft" for Samsung Gear VR is also required. Currently, "Minecraft" is the only game that supports the wireless controller but Microsoft promised that all future controller-supported Gear VR games like "End Space", "Omega Agent", "Herobound" and "Spirit Champion" will all work with the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller, Thurott reported.

Microsoft Senior Marketing Manager Navin Kumar previously explained that "Minecraft: VR Edition" will allow gamers to explore, build and battle from a new perspective.

HTC Vive and Oculus Rift reportedly have the top specs among VR headsets. On the other hand, the Samsung Gear VR can work with the newest Samsung smartphones like Galaxy 7 and Galaxy 7 Edge. The device can be purchased at $99. Meanwhile, the Playstation VR will ship later this year to accompany the PS4 and costs $400.

Microsoft is reportedly aims to allow gamers to play video games anywhere and on any device, Kumar shared. Hence, the expansion of the Xbox Wireless ecosystem to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, and by adding the Xbox Wireless Controller to Samsung's handsets.

In other news, Microsoft is expected to be a potential Twitter suitor. The social networking site is said to be entertaining buyout bids and reportedly has Microsoft as a potential suitor, CNBC reported. CNBC journalist David Faber previously reported that Twitter is moving closer to a formal sale process. Reports say that a deal may be expected to happen within the next 30 to 45 days. Walt Disney was reportedly also interested in Twitter.

The Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller is now available for pre-order starting at $33. The device is slated for release on Oct. 3. The color options are black, camouflage and gold chrome.
