Luke Cage was once the love interest of Jessica Jones in a Netflix drama with the same title. Cage, portrayed by Mike Colter, was also Jones' ally.
Luke Cage has a mysterious and tragic past, but he could also be part of the future of Jessica Jones, portrayed by Krysten Ritter. The twist in the story will be complicated as Jones was responsible in killing the wife of Cage.
Jessica Jones was a private investigator who is tasked to find the truth if Luke Cage was having an extra-marital affair. One night, the two super heroes joined forces to break up a chaos in a bar and ended up having a romantic relationship themselves.
Luke Cage was married to Reva Connors on what he thought was an accident. However, it was Jessica Jones who was responsible because her mind was under the control of Kilgrave. At first, Jones may not have the desire to reveal the truth to Cage. But when the bullet proof man was going to put an end to the life of a bus driver whom he thought killed his wife, Jones was forced to admit the truth.
Jessica Jones and Luke Cage went on separate ways after that although Cage was not ready to forgive Jones for what happened. The power man was still set on avenging his wife's death. Taking advantage of Cage's state of mind, Kilgrave put him under mind control and nearly got blown up inside the bar. Now, Cage is out to kill Jones himself.
It is interesting to note that though the life of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are intricately related, the two characters have two different show runners. Melissa Rosenberg, responsible for Jones character, works closely with Cheo Hodari Coker who gets to shape the character of Luke Cage.
