Pokemon Uranium Release Date, News & Update: Game Officially Shut Down? More Details Revealed

With "Pokemon GO" becoming the most downloaded game application in history, it has been a great year for Nintendo and their Pokemon brand. However, "Pokemon Uranium" did not share that success for too long.

According to Slash Gear, the creators have officially ceased support for "Pokemon Uranium." This came as a surprise to fans and gamers as it was only reported at first that the team will only be taking "Pokemon Uranium" down. Because of this, no update or online service can be expected from the original team anymore anytime soon.

Back in August, a few weeks after "Pokemon GO" becoming a surprise success for mobile and tab users, Nintendo ordered the developers of "Pokemon Uranium" to take down the game, Polygon reported. This was around the time when it was also rumored that Nintendo was not making much profit from "Pokemon GO" as the popular game studio was not the one that had the primary hand in its development.

This news about "Pokemon Uranium" comes a few weeks after Heavy reported that the game lost 15 million users. Thankfully for Nintendo and developer Niantic, the game is still said to be earning as much as $2 million per day with sustained growth.

For those not aware, "Pokemon Uranium" is an unlicensed, fan-made game based on creatures from the Pokemon franchise. It has been hailed by many as the best Pokemon game ever made despite the many professionally made games in the franchise.
