Moto Z Release Date, News & Update: Here's How To Customize Moto Mods Accessories; Moto G Line-up Cheaper Than Moto Z

The Moto Mods are snap-on peripherals that can be connected to the back of a device with strong magnets. These accessories may be attached on a Moto Z, Moto Z Play or a Moto Z Force. The nifty add-ons are also said to have added functionality such as high-end speakers, an extra battery pack and a Hasselblad True Zoom to amp up photos.

A promotional video has been released showing the different types of Moto Mods currently available. The video slowly unveiled the tiny, sleek peripheral from its bulkier, real-life counterparts to the one that can latch on the back of the Moto Z. Motorola also released a developer kit for Moto Mods to allow users to come up with customized accessories.

The developer kit includes a mod with dual speakers, a battery pack and a short-throw projector. The kit will also include a Reference Moto Mod, a processor that acts as a jump off point for third-party developers to create customized modules.

The Moto Mods was also seen to spark the innovation for a modular smartphone. It is said that the future of smartphones will see consumers able to transform or swap features accordingly. While Moto Mods are not marketed heavily as a modular phone, it is said to have the same functionality which is the ability to add accessories and other features on a smartphone like the Moto Z, Tech Times reported.

Meanwhile, Notebookreview came out with a 4-star rating and review for the Motorola Moto G4. The handset is said to be cheap and capable citing good battery life, streamlined Android experience and splash-proof build as the phone's good points. However, the device is said to have a weak display and an OK camera.

Moto Z starts at $400 while the 2016 Moto G lineup are reportedly cheaper. Starting at $150, the Moto G4 Play is the cheapest among the three smartphones followed by the $200 Moto G4 and the $250 Moto G4 Plus. Both the G4 and G4 Plus have 5.5-inch displays with full HD resolution, eight-core processors and turbo charging. Watch What's Inside Moto Mods?
