The success of the "Divergent" series seems to be fizzing out as the supposed ending of the franchise is still under discussion on whether it will push through as a movie or a TV series. Aside from that, the lead actors of "Divergent: Ascendant," is also not on board with the idea of the franchise turned into a TV series.

"Divergent: Ascendant" Fans Clamoring For Movie

The reports that "Divergent: Ascendant" might be aired on TV instead of the big screen has raised concern among the fans. Most of the fans believe that "Divergent" Ascendant" deserves to be shown in the big screen.

It is also believed that Theo James and Shailene Woodley have the same sentiments with the fans. Shailene Woodley even managed to raise the eyebrows of some movie critics as she was reportedly caught saying that she did not sign up for a TV show. While some interpreted her sentiments as borderline ungratefulness, the 24-year old actress clarified that she was only referring to the time when she was first offered the role.

"Divergent" Ascendant" A Sinking Ship?

One of the main reasons why Theo James and Shailene Woodley are reportedly abandoning their roles as Tris and Four in "Divergent: Ascendant" is because they do not want to be associated with a flop project. Harsh as it may sound, the previous installment of "Divergent" as well as Lionsgate's other project, "The Hunger Games," have failed to hit the box office success. Because of that, Lionsgate is reportedly resorting to releasing "Divergent: Ascendant" on the small screen to make up for the lost profit of the label.

"Divergent: Ascendant" Spinoff Happening?

With the speculations that Shailene Woodley will not be returning as Tris in "Divergent: Ascendant," there are reports that Lionsgate will focus on a spinoff instead. With the spinoff, the producers can have the possibility of getting another actress to play the role of either an older or a younger Tris.
