Minecraft's 1.5 "Redstone" Update Arrives in Early March

According to Mojang developer Jens Bergensten, fans will be getting a taste of what Minecraft's Redstone Update has to offer sometime next month. Bergensten updated fans via twitter, saying, "Minecraft 1.5 will be released in roughly 2 weeks, early March."

As its namesake indicates, the update promises a bevvy of features will be added to the game's mysterious ore, as well as basic fixes and improvements to gameplay overall. Announced at this year's Minecon, the Redstone Update is truly massive, and promises to be the game's biggest since the Halloween Update.

Redstone is the mysterious fuel that allows for some of Minecraft's more complicated projects, used in powering rails, making clocks and compasses, dispensers, repeaters and more. The Redstone Update will make the ore even more useful, adding in improvements, including new redstone-based items, and better behaviors.

The update also promises improvements to minecarts and tracks overall, mob AI, and the usual array of bug fixes. You can go here to see some more specific details. We promise a better look at each new feature once the update is released.
