The true state of the iPad Mini 5 remains sketchy though there is growing belief that it will be part of the iPad Pro 2 variants set to come out by the first quarter of 2017.

This means that the iPad Mini line which initially had its last refresh in the iPad Mini 4 in 2015 will crowd the three iPad Pro 2 variants – the 12.9-inch, 10.5-inch, and a 7.9-inch variant. The 7.9-inch variant will take the place of the 9.7-inch variant that was previously mentioned in a separate post.

Max power in a small tablet?

The 7.9-inch variant is seen as the logical one to succeed the iPad Mini 4 though one has to wonder how Apple can fit in all those features in a smaller tablet. Among the rumored features for the iPad Mini 5 (or iPad Mini Pro) include an improved processor (speculated to be A9X), a 3D Touch pressure-sensitive screen and a 7000-series aluminum shell that will account for its classy make, MacWorld reported.

With a smaller screen, Apple may need to come up with a better (keyboard) interface while its thinness is questionable with belief that the Cupertino company will be retaining the 3.5 mm jack. Aside from the key features for the iPad Mini 5, the battery has now come under scrutiny as well. It was originally believed to bank on a 5,215 battery but given its thinner design, the actual battery spec could dwindle.

Other features that the iPad Mini 5/ iPad Mini Pro could come with include 3 GB of RAM, 32 to 256 GB of RAM, an 8 MP main camera, and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera. From here, it remains to be seen if the iPad Mini 5 or iPad Mini Pro will indeed be among the refreshed tablets for 2017. There is high anticipation for the new line for the iPad Pro 2 and Apple is expected to come out with the best specs and solution for its loyalists.
