Xbox Games With Gold October 2016 News & Update: Four New Gold Games; Seven New Backward Compatibility Titles Coming

Xbox One has seven new Backward Compatibility titles, which came with the Games with Gold October 2016 update. Following previous patterns of announcing new Backward Compatible games on Tuesday and Thursday, the games were revealed on Oct. 11, 2016 by Microsoft.

Major Nelson reported that for October 2016, Xbox Live Gold Members will get four new games. Two games will be available on Xbox 360, and two on Xbox One, as part of the program. Xbox One players can also enjoy the Xbox 360 titles via Backward Compatibility. On Xbox One, Gold members can download "Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings" for free from October 1 to 31. The game previously had a regular retail price of $19.99.

The second Xbox One free title is "The Escapists, which will be available from October 16 to November. The game had a regular retail price of $19.99. The introduction of the two Xbox One games also meant the exit of "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China," which were free to download from September 15 to October 15.

For Xbox 360 players, the Xbox Live Gold program offers "MX vs. ATV Reflex" from October 16 to 31. The new free title also mean the exit of "I Am Alive" on Xbox 360, which was previously free from October 1 to 15. There are reports, however, that "I Am Alive" will continue to be available on the Backward Compatibility list from October 16 to 31.

Express revealed that more Xbox One games have become available, namely "Jurassic Park: The Game," "Battlestations: Midway," "Tour de France 2011," Dragon's Lair," "Silent Hill: Downpour," "Eat Lead" and Puzzle Quest. Players who own a digital copy should have these titles in their Games App library. Players who own physical copies can use the old Xbox 360 discs into their console and download accordingly.

The new Xbox One games were included in the Backwards Compatibility program based on popularity. "Silent Hill: Downpour" garnered over 6,000 votes, "Jurassic Park: The Game" and "Puzzle Quest" acquired about 2,000 votes, "Battlestations: Midway" had under 2,000, "Dragon's Lair" garnered about 1,000, and "Eat Lead" took about 500 votes. More updates and details on Xbox Games with Gold and the Backward Compatibility program are expected soon.
