‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Maroon 5’s Latest Music Video Is A Clear Parody Of The ‘Pokemon Go’ Craze [Watch]

Just when the "Pokemon Go" has taken on every nook and cranny of the world, Maroon 5 hopped on the trend with its new music video "Don't Wanna Know." The video begins with Adam Levine in bed wearing a cute animal costume that, however, does not resemble any Pokemon and follows him in his daily routine.

Rolling Stone reports that Levine goes on with his life with the costume; he drinks coffee, works out, relieves himself but later on, ends up on the rough side of dozens of people with cellphones. These people appear to be trying to catch him just as they would in "Pokemon Go" and Levine, of course, would not want to end up inside a Pokeball and does what he can to evade those. The music video also features other celebrities including Ed Helms, Shaq, Vince Vaughn and Sarah Silverman who appears as Levine's ex lover who is also facing the same crisis.

Although the new song features one verse from Kendrick Lamar, he does not appear anywhere in the video either as a human or as a character in the "Pokemon Go" game. This new single "Don't Wanna Know" showcases Levine's story of heartbreak with a easy listening and carefree beat which radio DJs will find easy to insert into almost any modern playlist.

Game Rant reports that what began as a humble but enticing mobile app based on a creature catching and rearing game series has truly evolved into a multimedia juggernaut just as the theme was twenty years ago. The craze is just so real that it has not evaded celebrity attention so that some enterprising musicians' eyes got caught and decided to capitalize on the "Pokemon Go" game's popularity.

While the music video is not an official tie in with Niantic or the Pokemon Company, it is a very clear satire of the craze. There, one can see dozens of people chasing around Levine and others in a suit which clearly resembles how "Pokemon Go" players would go nuts when a rare Pokemon appears in an area. Maroon 5's latest music video is just a nod towards what could be one of the most successful mobile games of all time and gamers should expect the game to make it to more pop culture references.
