Even though new Korean girl group, Black Pink, was only launched this August, they have become one of the most hyped girl groups in the industry. The last time YG Entertainment got this much attention from an all female group was during the peak of 2NE1's career. So is Black Pink the new 2NE1?

Is 2NE1 disbanding after Minzy's departure?

2NE1 was a four-member group, but after youngest member Minzy announced her exit back in April, the popular Korean girl group's career came to a screeching halt. 2NE1's remaining members, CL, Bom, and Dara are currently doing their own individual projects while YG Entertainment is still trying to figure things out for the group.

2NE1's absence in the music scene gave Black Pink the opportunity to shine. Not only did Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa delivered amazing songs and dance moves during their debut, but Black Pink reminded everyone of the earlier days of 2NE1.

2NE1 is not only popular in Korea but they have become known worldwide. With multiple world tours back then, it is safe to say that CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy were definitely the top artists to beat.

Is Black Pink the new 2NE1? New Korean group taking over top spot?

Now, 2NE1 is a trio and is currently on hiatus. Black Pink, on the other hand, is slowly crawling up to the top spot and getting known worldwide as well. Just like 2NE1, Black Pink definitely has the potential to reach international stardom.

As a matter of fact, Black Pink's "Whistle" was featured in America's Entertainment Weekly. The site noted that Black Pink's "Whistle" is one of the eight hot singles that people should know about and listen to.
