'Pokemon GO' Release Date, News & Update: Niantic Prohibits Spawns for Gamers Traveling Beyond 30MPH; Pokemon GO Plus Receives Update

Niantic has tightened the security features of "Pokemon GO." Thanks to a new update, gamers who are traveling beyond 30 mph can no longer experience spawns, regardless if the gamer is driving or is a passenger in a moving vehicle. This spells trouble for gamers who enjoy playing "Pokemon GO" while on the bus or train.

According to VG24/7, the new update is to address the series of fatal and non-fatal car accidents linked to playing "Pokemon GO." Niantic continues to ensure that playing the game will do no harm to both gamers and pedestrians.

Last August, Niantic released an update that asked gamers if they were a driver or passenger whenever the game detects an unusually fast speed, Digital Trends reports. Of course, "Pokemon GO" gamers who were indeed driving could just easily click on "I'm a passenger" button and proceed to play. This new update is more effective in keeping drivers away from their phones while playing "Pokemon GO."

The new update is effective because those who are traveling beyond 30 mph won't experience spawns or see any Pokemon in his or her area, forcing drivers to concentrate on the road instead. Of course, this is bad news for those who are merely commuting and want to enjoy the ride while playing "Pokemon GO."

Speaking of updates, the wearable accessory Pokemon Go Plus also received a new update. The wearable device now has multiple notification modes. While the device's scanning ability for both PokeStops and Pokemon remains the same, users may now individually enable or disable the notifications if they want to. Users will also be able to turn off notifications when they are walking with a Buddy Pokemon. Keep checking back for the latest on "Pokemon GO" and comment below on additional features you'd like to see in the game.
