Apple could be discontinuing the MacBook Air lineup. Hence, the Apple MacBook Air 2017 could be the last update to the Air line. The line did receive a minor update earlier this year though no proper update has made its way to the devices.
Apple's silence on the lineup has led to speculations of the gadget's discontinuity in near future. The reason for the discontinuation could be because of Apple's focus on revealing highly-advanced products such as the MacBook Pro 2016, iMac 2016 and so on and so forth. Moreover, the iPhones have such advanced functionalities that the MacBook Air lineup could slowly become redundant. Apple could be streamlining its efforts to make more innovative products or simply better its iPhones. Aside from the MacBook Air 2017, rumors about the Apple iPhone 8 are already circulating and the device is expected to boast some revolutionary specs.
There are also rumors that Apple will soon retire the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air and release only a 15-inch MacBook Air 2017. This is yet another possibility where Apple will keep upgrading the 15-inch variant to keep it up to date with probably the iPhones.
As per Macworld, the upcoming MacBook Air 2017 will have a slimmer design and will be made more compact for easy portability. There are reports that an E-ink keyboard could also be come with the MacBook Air 2017. Apple has reportedly got in to a deal with Sonder Designs to develop the keyboard.
There is no report as to the kind of processor to be used in the Apple MacBook Air 2017. Skylake processors are a high possibility instead of the current Broadwell chipset. Apple may also choose to include the Intel Kaby Lake processor but that would significantly raise the cost of the device.
USB Type-C ports, fingerprint sensor Touch ID, Apple-Pencil enable Trackpads and virtual assistant Siri are also expected to be included in the MacBook Air 2017, writes MacRumors. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more MacBook Air 2017 news and updates!
