‘Wolfenstein’ Sequel Release Date, News & Update: ‘The New Colossus’ Confirmed at E3? 2017 Launch Teased

There are rumors that a "Wolfenstein" sequel may be in the works. Voice actor Brian Bloom, who took on the role of B.J. Blazkowicz in the 2014 "Wolfenstein," hinted that the next installment, titled "The New Colossus," may be arriving soon.

In an interview with TwoLeftSticks, Bloom teased that if "Wolfenstein" fans look at the E3 2016 lineup of Bethesda, there was a title hinted in a cool way, which sparked the interest of some gamers. He noted that the clue was in the very subtle DOS language that browsed through the titles briefly. The "Wolfenstein" voice actor said that Bethesda is probably working on it in the meantime.

GameRant stated that at the E3 briefing by Bethesda, a mock cmd.exe screen shortly appeared on the screen that presented a list of some of the game developer's released titles since the 1990s. Some of the names that were shown include "Wolfenstein 3D," Wolfenstein: The New Order" and "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood," among others.

The title, "The New Colossus" was also spotted with an unidentified release date, before the list proceeded to "Doom" titles. All of the titles in the list included launch dates, except for "The New Colossus," which could be the item that Bloom was referring to.

It could mean that Bethesda is already developing the next installment of "Wolfenstein" under the new title. It could be an expansion, a full game or a mere DLC.

"The New Colossus" can also refer to Emma Lazarus' sonnet, which appeared on the base of the Statue of Liberty, and recited by BJ Blazkowicz at the end of "Wolfenstein: The New Order." AlicjaBachleda-Curus, who took on the role of Anya Oliwa in the latest game, also mentioned that she is working on a second title that may launch in 2017. The sequel may delve more on B.J. and Anya's relationship.

Bethesda has yet to make an official announcement, so fans should take the news with a grain of salt. If "Wolfenstein: The New Colossus" launches in 2017, it may be in the fall, to avoid competing with the highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2" by Rockstar Games.
