iPad Mini 5 Release Date, Specs, News & Update: Apple Halts Production of Tablets? Durable, Thinner, Lighter, Water-Proof Tablet Coming Next Year?

Apple still remained silent about the iPad Mini 5. Fans are hoping that the device would be launched in the upcoming October 27 event Apple will host. But, recent reports also say that Apple is still focusing in its upcoming laptops such as the MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016.

There is a huge possibility that the iPad Mini 5 will be delayed next year. Some reports say that the tablet might be launched on March 2017 together with the iPad Pro 2 and the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro in addition to the 9.7-inch "low-cost" iPad.

According to a report from MacWorld, the iPad Mini 5 will be having its major overhaul. Report says that the tablet will be using Series 7000 aluminum on its body; this is the same material Apple used in their iPhone 6S. The material is also lighter and stiffer compared to low-grade aluminum that are commonly used on other products.

The iPad Mini 5 will also feature a 7000-series aluminum chassis, as stated on a report by TechAdvisor. This new feature will make the tablet durable. In short, fans can expect a thinner, lighter and more durable iPad Mini 5 compared to its predecessors.

The iPad Mini 5 might also be using Apple's iOS 10 that has been released with the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. After the launch of Apple's latest smartphones, tech critics are also speculating that the iPad Mini 5 might sport an IP68 protection; this new feature will make the tablet water-resistant same as the iPhone 7's.

But, some reports also say that Apple might not be making an iPad Mini 5 and abandon the line altogether. Not only the iPad Mini's production might be stopped but also the iPad Air might be killed off. Reports state that iPhones decreased the demand for Apple tablets.
