Nintendo Switch Release Date, News & Update: Nintendo NX No More? Company Officially Announces New Hybrid Console! More Console Features, Details Revealed

The much awaited game console from Nintendo has been finally revealed. The Nintendo Switch features the marriage of home gaming and portable console.

Nintendo Switch is In, Nintendo NX is Out

For so long, the rumor mill has been plagued with news about the upcoming console from Nintendo. Formerly codenamed Nintendo NX, the tech company has finally unveiled its newest hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch console will be officially launched on March of 2017. However, it has already built a lot of hype around the interesting premise of hybridity between a proper home console and a portable gaming device. It will be using cartridges for the games, much like any other Nintendo console in the market.

Nintendo Switch System and Controls

When using at home, the Nintendo Switch will be resting on the Nintendo Switch Dock which will then be connected to the television. Turning it into a portable mode is as easy as sliding the system out of the dock and lifting it to use as a handheld device. The console is smart enough to detect whether it is being docked or not, to instantly make the transition between modes.

There are also detachable controllers called the Joy-Con controllers. They slide into the either sides of the Nintendo Switch. These controllers could then be attached either on the system itself or onto a Grip accessory. The latter will then mirror a more traditional controller which is already familiar with the users. There is also an option to use the Joy-Con controllers wirelessly.

The usage of the Joy-Con controllers depends mainly on the Nintendo Switch players themselves. A single player can use both controllers in each hand, while two players can each take one controller. Multiple controllers can then be utilized by multiple people if the gameplay has the necessity for it.

Nintendo will also be selling an optional Switch Pro Controller that could be used instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Players can then bring their Nintendo Switch systems together in portable mode for local multiplayer gameplay.

Additionally, Nintendo will sell an optional Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Nintendo added that it's possible to bring Switch systems together for local multiplayer. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more Nintendo Switch news and updates!
