DC Comics 'Infinite Crisis' MOBA Announced: Beta, Release Date and Champion Details [Trailer]

WB Games is getting into the free-to-play MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) business with "Infinite Crisis." Based on the DC Comics multiverse - you read that right - "Infinite Crisis" will pit different versions of well-known DC heroes and villains against each other in the fast-growing PC genre. Turbine, best-known for "Lord of the Rings Online," is developing and players can sign up for the beta right now through the "Infinite Crisis" website.

Check out the reveal trailer below.

"'Infinite Crisis' is a new entrant into the wildly popular MOBA genre that delivers a heart-pounding competitive player vs. player battle experience set in the legendary DC Multiverse - a world in which familiar DC Comics characters have been reimagined in startling ways.  Featuring a wide variety of DC Comics heroes and villains, Infinite Crisis puts players in control of twisted incarnations of their favorite characters throughout the Multiverse such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman, playing in league with well-known characters including Green Lantern and The Flash," reads the press release.

"Infinite Crisis" joins "Guardians Of Middle Earth" in the free-to-play, PC MOBA market, and will likely follow the same monetization path as the popular competitive game by offering new characters for micro-transaction prices. However, Turbine is looking to shake up the formula in a couple of interesting ways.

Players will be able to use the environment - throwing cars, calling down meteors (you know, normal stuff) - to their advantage. Maps will also feature "devastating, map-altering events" that should shake up a round, according to the website.

Playable heroes announced on the website thus far are:

Nightmare Batman

Doomsday

Flash

Gaslight Batman

Gaslight CAtwoman

Gaslight Joker

Green Lantern

Poison Ivy

Shazam

The Joker

Wonder Woman

Zatanna

Characters each fill one of a couple roles on the battlefield, ranging from support classes to bruisers to blasters, which for any seasoned MOBA player should translate into well-known class types. Head over to Infinite Crisis's Champions page to get an extremely detailed analysis on each character.

"Infinte Crisis" is slated for a Fall 2013 debut, while details on the beta dates are currentlly unknown.
